Intention

This is a resource for Out in Tech (OiT) volunteers to safely share about their experience with Digital Corps events without compromising the safety of our organization partners and other volunteers.

With anti-LGBTQ+ legislation passing in countries all over the world, we are taking extra steps to ensure we are doing everything in our control to be as safe and secure as possible.

Sharing on LinkedIn:

Out in Tech loves to see everyone posting about their experience! But, because of how public social media platforms like Linkedin are, we must be mindful and considerate of how we post.

Below are example templates and things to consider while getting your content ready.

Template options:

<aside> 1️⃣ Same-sex relationships are still illegal in 60+ countries. Out in Tech Digital Corps provides web services to LGBTQ+ activists and social entrepreneurs around the world.

I’m proud to have spent Saturday volunteering with Out in Tech, Automattic, and WordPress.com to help others in need!

<aside> 2️⃣ I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering this past weekend for Out in Tech Digital Corps. The team I was part of built a website for an LGBTQIA+ nonprofit organization abroad. Collaborating with a queer organization and meeting other LGBTQ+ professionals in tech was a very meaningful way to spend my Saturday.

I hope to join again in the future and highly recommend this volunteer opportunity to others. A big thank you to the Out in Tech team, the Automattic team and my fellow team volunteers!

◦ You can use this Adobe blurring tool: [<https://www.adobe.com/express/feature/image/blur>](<https://www.adobe.com/express/feature/image/blur>) | • Don’t post screenshots of the website without consent from the organization.

• Don’t post any images that have identifying information (e.g., faces, logos of organization, etc.) | | Tagging | • Like posting photo(s), get consent before you launch your post | • Don’t tag anyone without asking - even though people volunteered, this does not mean that they consent to being publicly affiliated. | | Links | • Link to Out in Tech’s website (https://outintech.com/digital-corps/) • Volunteer form for the next Digital Corp event (https://noteforms.com/forms/digital-corps-volunteer-application-4hrnrf) | • Don’t link to the site you just built. Reminder that the site should be private after you’ve built it (until the organization makes it public.) | | Organization | • You can share the country the organization is based in. • You can loosely talk about their mission. | • Don’t post your organization’s name, or names of anyone you worked closely with. |
