Definition: A member commits a minor offense against the Code of Conduct. The only effect is slight annoyance/discomfort for the community.
Virtual examples*:* Copy/pasting the same post in more than 3 channels; posting an unpaid job or internship opportunity.
IRL examples: Pitching your company during a panel Q&A in a way that detracts from the attendee experience, cutting in line for food/drinks.
Resolution: Virtually, ****a Slack moderator will DM the member and ask the person to address/remove the post(s), giving a direct reference to the Code of Conduct. At the 3rd Level-1 offense, the member will be removed from the workspace. In-person, an Out in Tech leader will explain why the action broke the code of conduct and get a verbal acknowledgement that the person understands why it was wrong. In both instances, the incident will be reported to Out in Tech staff so it can be logged in the list of incidents.
Definition: A member commits a serious offense against the Code of Conduct.
Virtual examples*:* Making a personal and accusatory remark at a member based on their view or taste after they share their experience; making a broad generalization about the traits of a community; questioning someone's lived experiences; making suggestive/lewd remarks at another member. Examples of remarks would include: "You're ugly;" "What you're saying is bullshit;" "All women do is complain."
IRL example: Making a member feel uncomfortable via a lewd personal remark or broad generalization aimed at a person or a group of people (”You’re super hot,” “Stop acting like such a [race, sexual orientation, gender identity]”).
Resolution: Virtually, a Slack moderator will DM the member and ask the person to address/remove the post(s), giving a direct reference to the Code of Conduct. They will lose their posting privileges for 1 week from the incident. If they commit another Level 2 offense, they will be immediately removed from the workspace. Have a Slack leader address the incident in the channel where it occurred. In both instances, the incident will be reported to Out in Tech staff so it can be logged in the list of incidents.
